Ever seen anything like this?

Unread postby checkerfred » Sun Dec 17, 2017 3:53 am

Come across this deer hair all over the place. I thought someone killed a deer at first but no bones, no blood, no guts, no disturbed ground like someone dragged it or anything. Thoughts? Could it be from a buck fight? Do deer get mange? Rut sex? Lol

No I don't ever remember coming across anything like that without evidence of a fight/kill.

I've seen that where people dump the skin and butchered carcase. Carcase usually gets dragged off a ways by the coyotes.

Or you found where Bigfoot scratches his back.

Maybe that’s it. The carcass not Bigfoot lol...I don’t wanna have to worry about him walking in or out in the dark

You can find a ton of hair in the spring/shedding but not this time of year, could be a fight as mentioned, I can't come up with anything else.

What area? Wolves will clean a
Kill site up pretty darn well. Mountain lions will lick hair off and then could have dragged it off and buried it. Not sure if either is a possibility or not.

That deer is dead somewhere, you just didn't find the carcass.

I've never seen nothing like that! But did one time hear a drag out buck fight and when I went to the scene of the crime if was nothing like that, looked like a bulldozer hit the ridge with blood and kicked up dirt and broke small trees. That looks like a deer died and decomposed and rotted remains dragged off after the fact to me.

It’s alabama so no wolves that I know of. The state says we don’t have mt lions but people have seen them and we used to a long time ago so who knows

There was no disturbed ground that would suggest anything was dragged. Definitely odd. I’ve heard two big bucks fighting before too and from the sound of it there would have to be turf all kicked up.

I when I first glanced at the picture, it looks like a hawk or owl got a hold of a cat squirrel. I've seen it a time or two of a deer stand, and both times they de-furred (can't call it skinning  but close) that squirrel quick like before they ever went to eating it.
