You found gold. That's a "salon" spot. Great doe area. They lay around, groom each other, get massages, haircuts, clip their hooves, but mostly just bleat back and forth about all sorts of nothings. Bucks rarely visit these areas, except for the rut they'll peek in.

I had a classroom example of how coyotes attacked a young buck by our place in the winter. I saw crows circling and found dead buck, but I backtracked the entire event since it was all captured in the snow. One site had all blood over it and hair, then buck must have been able to get up and you could see more after math of where he taken down again to final site. The final site not only had blood, bones, etc. but had a yellow packed down area next to it as though they peed all over the place in their kill excitement. Point was one of the areas where buck was taken down temporarily had a lot of hair but no bones until you got to actual kill site. Interesting find to say the least...

Kill site up pretty darn well. Mountain lions will lick hair off and then could have dragged it off and buried it. Not sure if either is a possibility or not.

It’s alabama so no wolves that I know of. The state says we don’t have mt lions but people have seen them and we used to a long time ago so who knows

Bobcat?

Yeah we have those. I’ve killed 6 over the past 4-5 years

No blood or any signs of struggle but this is definitely deer hair.
