I've shot, killed, arrowed, taken, dumped, dropped, downed, popped, harvested and many other descriptive words. Tomato & Tamato are just plain old love apples.
You can fool some of the bucks, all of the time, and fool all of the bucks, some of the time, however you certainly can't fool all of the bucks, all of the time.

The last buck I killed that weighed under 150 dressed was 1979. I won a big buck contest with that buck. The buck I killed this year was over 200 easily, but I didn't weigh him the land owners tractor wouldn't start to lift him. So I couldn't count him.
Those are some true Iowa corn fed beasts there Stanley.

I’ve shot some big bodied deer but one I got on cam this year is the biggest body Deer I’ve ever seen in my life. His rack doesn’t match the body as he appears to be in decline . Had video in summer and couldn’t believe it . Then video in fall was more ridiculous. If I kill him he will be weighed.

Its funny, some guys say they've never weighed their deer but you head up to Maine and they would look at you funny for it. Believe it or not, I've often heard "What'd he weigh?" before "How big was the rack?". They like their big bodied bucks. Probabaly tradition.

Re: Heaviest buck harvested?
I never use to weigh any of my deer. But at the urging of my uncle I started to weigh some of the bigger ones starting about 15 years ago. 233, 211, 196, and 193 are the biggest. The 233lb deer was the highest scoring of them. But the 193 was the longest body and oldest of them.

Same thing up in Canada. The average body size of the older bucks up in Ontario is amazing. Unlike anything I have ever seen here in the states.

Re: Heaviest buck harvested?
I shot a buck oct5 this year that dressed 210lbs. He was thick all over his body. Rack was ok, grosss scores 107. Not bad for public in Michigan. He was my heaviest buck off public land. My second heaviest overall.

matt1336 wrote:I kill deer I don’t harvest them- but to each his own. I’ve cracked the 200# threshold a few times. Northern WI produces some big deer with small racks. I’ve shot a couple like that too.
Is that a recent turn of events or has that been the case for a while? If I remember, the Jordan buck was killed in or near Danbury which is northern WI, a long time ago but weighed 300 lbs + dressed out but there was no confirmation of that. I would assume that particular bucks genetics are still in the herd up there, but I may be way off base never having hunted anywhere in WI. The biggest I have taken is 160 lbs and any buck that dresses 200lbs in NJ gets you an award because it just doesn't happen every year.
