How often do you hear or see bucks sparring?
One thing I've noticed since intentionally hunting buck bedding areas is how much more often I get to hear bucks rubbing and sparring. Last two sits I've heard both, and passed five 1 and 2 year old bucks. I can recall hearing sparring twice in my first 10 or so years of seriously hunting, and five or six times in the last 3 years. Anyone else experienced this?

Same here. I think it’s simply because the odds are increased. The previous spots I hunted didn’t necessarily have high odds to see bucks in daylight, too far from bedding. Now that I’ve been here brig closer to bedding I’ve definitely been hearing more sparring.

I've heard sparring 2-3 times and a real throw-down fight once. Maybe 10 sparring sequences on my trail cameras.

I hear a lot of young deer feeling each other out early season more of tickling and playfulness than anything. I have heard one brutal fight in all my time in the woods, it was close but over the ridge so I couldn't see. Mid mourning I climbed down to look at the scene and it looked like a bull dozer went through there with blood and hair everywhere. Certainly nothing any man could duplicate in a tree with rattling horns

Heard it once this year during late October. Pretty rare for me though.

Once. If it wasn’t 20 minutes after dark I would’ve thought it was a guy with elk antlers. Unreal how loud it was. Probably 100 yards away as well

Once this year in late october. I had 2 deer coming at me for a long time. Really still dry day so you could hear them walking. By the time the got within sight I could only see antlers. I couldnt see my pins any more. One started working a scrape about 20 yards in front of my and the other kicked him off of it. Then they started fighting. It was really cool, pitch black antlers racking together and bodies crashing around. At one point they were 5 yards from the base of my tree. It lasted about 15 minutes. Probably the coolest hunt Ive ever had.
