Tagged out (West of the Blue Ridge)
Finally tracked down big boy yesterday evening! I set up on the downwind edge of a thick oxbow. Had a spike and three coyotes come through early. Right before closing time I caught movement in the brush about 100 yards away. I knew right away that it was big boy. He was working his way up the ridge on a parallel trail. I gave him a long, deep grunt and he came in on a string, looking to beat me up! When he got to about 35 yards he turned broadside and I let him have it. When the smoke cleared he was laying there dead in his tracks!! It was an epic hunt, and it was an honor to hunt him.
I have one more buck tag left. It is only good for bucks killed east of the Blue Ridge, so I won't get to hunt as often. I plan to head over there and check out some spots that I have been cyber scouting.
Ps... First blood from the Lone Wolf Alpha.

Congrats. I smoked one this past week on Rockingham public. Nothing like yours...That's a pig. There is plenty of options east of the blue ridge, good luck. I used to hunt Albermarle, and have filled all those buck tags before. Plenty of gun season left east of the blue ridge...
Some do. Some don't. I just might...

Congrats on your Rockingham buck! I've been looking at some public in Nelson. It looks prime, but if I get one I'm gonna need a helicopter to get it out

Yep. I had to learn to de-bone and pack out gutless style hunting that country. I still de-bone and pack out most places I hunt, it's just so much easier once you get good at it. good luck.
