Re: 2017 RUT REPORT
West central Illinois last night. Two separate does had a buck slowly trailing them. First buck had nice main beams and second was young. Scrapes and rubs were opened up.

Nice one Tyler!
More back yard buck videos, 2 nice 8 pointers. Pretty much untouchable for me to ever hunt but fun to watch

Re: 2017 RUT REPORT
Anyone every had a buck grunt at them in the dark? Did a little grunting last night and nothing showed so I packed up, got about 150 yards from my set (wind was in my favor) and hear a buck grunt parallel to my exit and tree. It was a little windy so I thought I might be hearing things then another distinct grunt. I'm sure he investigated after I was gone and busted me but still an interesting night.

Re: 2017 RUT REPORT
Seeing lots of younger bucks in tow when does leaving beds in the evening. Hoping to run into a big one shortly. A lot of irons in the fire recently so hoping the biggins start getting on the does soon.

Re: 2017 RUT REPORT
Sat last night in S. central MN. 20-30mph winds and at 515pm a switch was flipped. New to this beast hunting stuff so I just went to a usual cruising spot between 3 bedding areas where I always see deer (including my biggest I've ever seen in my life @ 5 yards, two years ago to the day but thats a whole nother story.) but went in a little deeper than I normally do. Nothing from 3-515 and then I thought I heard a grunt but wasn't so sure with the wind blowing the way it was. Pretty soon I see 2 little forks heading my way and a button buck in tow. The 2 forks headed towards one of the bedding areas and the button fed along and split away from those two. 5 minutes later I see a basket racked 8, nose to the ground. Pretty soon another buck came from the same trail as the first bucks. Not long after that another buck came from the same spot as the basket rack but nothing big. 6 bucks seen between 515 and 550pm but nothing older than 2.5 yo good night overall watching them, how they move, the trails they took and where it led them to.

Re: 2017 RUT REPORT
Hunted in West Central Illinois this weekend. Had a few smaller bucks looking but ran into two of my shooters (couldnt get a shot) and they were walking with each other. The two were in a bachelor group all summer long together as well. Not sure if they were incidentally within a few yards of each other on the same trail or what. Thought it was a bit strange this time of year.
Was driving back to Chicago on Saturday night and almost smacked a giant buck buck on the interstate. I got a pretty good look at him and he was well over 150" and he was chasing something.
I'll be back down in the woods in 5 days. Looking forward to it if the weather holds up.

Re: 2017 RUT REPORT
Not much happening in this part of far northern WI. that'll change in the next 5 days. Does are still with fawns. Mature Bucks are ghosts..not really seeing much daytime activity from younger bucks. No new rubs or scrapes.

Just saw a nice 2.5 yr old in someone's backyard at 3:55 so I'd say it's starting to rock in SW MI. Perfect time for my vacation to start!
