Wind question for rut setup
I found a clear cut on a piece of public ground that I'd like to throw a stand at during the rut, but I'm not sure what wind would be best as this clear cut lies at the bottom of a ridge. This is a pretty big clear cut about 1/2 mile long and covering around 25 acres. I know deer like to bed on the downwind side of these thickets, and bucks like to cruise these edges checking for hot does. I also know that bucks like to cruise along the leeward side of ridges. My delimma is which do I choose? Setting up on the downwind side of the clear cut will mean the wind is blowing into the face of the ridge, and setting up on the leeward side of the ridge will mean my wind is blowing into the clear cut. So, which wind would be best? Thanks.
