Fam is #1 and with 3 young kids it is always busy and crazy. I work for myself so that is almost a non issue, but there are some deadlines and things I need to get done but during bow season I seem to always find that extra gear to get the work done.

Family plain and simple. When I was single I used to hunt every weekend. Then I got married and hunted every other weekend. Now that I'm a Dad I hunt 2 weeks in November and the occasional October cold front. I do sneak out for Gun and Muzzeloader late season. I wouldn't trade it for anything though.

Family, heat, and lightning. I'm primarily a rut hunter unless there's an October cold front or I just simply need to get out there.

Re: What keeps you out?
I love to hunt but only spend about 10 days per year hunting whitetails. When I was growing up we only had a 9-day season, that changed to 16 and later it went to like 3 or 4 months.
After 40 seasons, I find that after 10 days of deer hunting, I'm just not as interested.
Now, I do plan my hunting - timing rut, having flexibility for cold fronts, etc. I've left at midnight to be on stand 2 states away at daylight due to a cold front. No small kids and I think the wife likes me out of the house sometimes.

After 3-4 days in a row...my back!
