Here goes nothing....

Unread postby Greg4579 » Sun Sep 17, 2017 5:46 am

I started this journey 10 months ago when I found this site and decided I really wanted to learn to hunt. I am 38 and came from a family who never hunted. I tagged along with buddies in my 20's and early 30's but was your typical slob hunter. I had never shot a buck and does would come along every other year.

I went all in, purchasing my bow in January and my Lone Wolf in March. I have ran cameras and scouted all year. I have consistently practiced with my bow and my sticks and stand. I am overwhelmed with just how much effort I have put into this!

Today is the first day of the season here, and I am heading out to a spot where I have confidence in. There is an off wind today that has changed my game plan, but I adjusted and feel eerily confident. One year ago I wouldn't have even paid attention to the wind, and today I am armed with bags of milkweed and multiple locations depending on what the wind is doing when I go in there. The whole experience seems surreal!

I thank the Lord for this journey and this site!

Good luck to you!

I can totally relate. Though I hunted as a kid, this is my first year as a beast hunter and it is a totally new experience, and sense of excitement. I am about to head out for my first sit as well!

Good luck and don't be discouraged if you don't succeed right away. If you keep doing the little things it will pay off at some point. Not everyone can kill a good buck the first few days.

To a fellow ne dude- be most excited about scouting after season..learn winds with milkweed, hunt your way in and if it's not done with purpose; don't consider it a plan.

I'm in the same boat. First sit in a lone wolf, got a new to me bow, and trying to re learn hunting the way I feel like will lead me to success

Haven't seen a deer today, and even if I don't, today is one big step in the right direction for me. You should be proud. It's hard to change things. Keep putting the work in and you will get there.

Just don't forget to have fun and enjoy your hunting
