I believe it helps break up your outline. Do I think it is a necessity? No, but I do wear it as I want any advantage possible.

Dark camo patterns aren't the best. I prefer to wear olive drab. Have shot most of my deer wearing jeans and flannel shirt or an orange fleece jacket.
My preference is to use scent free/UV free detergent and wear rubber boots.
Have seen deer pick my trail up and freak out, so do know it isn't fool proof. I've also had deer walk 100-200 yards right down my path when I was wearing the same clothes.
