Thermacell
Ive recently bought a thermacell for those Sept/ early Oct days in the river bottoms area's i hunt. Since ive purchased (Havent used it yet) ive heard a few times about how it puts of a noticeable smell and has spooked deer, then ive heard of other guys not having a problem. Wondering what everyone's experience has been with this product?

Re: Thermacell
In Louisiana you either soak down with off, use a thermacell or don't hunt until January. Can't say it's ever ruined a hunt that wasn't ruined due to my smell anyway.

Re: Thermacell
I've never had an issue with deer spooking cause of it. If you're in the stand swatting skeeters instead of sitting still do you think the thermacell would be worth it. I do. Try it.

Re: Thermacell
Agree with the others plus if you hunt the wind it shouldn't be an issue unless the wind switches or a deer comes from an unexpected area

If the deer smell your Thermacell they already smelled you.

I've got a thermocell but always forget to bring it with me when I need it. I get reminded when I have mosquitos buzzing in my ear.

Re: Thermacell
I've always used a thermocell with no issues bear or deer hunting. Just don't put it too close to your head. The hissing sound can get loud and annoying. Learned that the hard way.

Re: Thermacell
Do yall's thermacell make a loud click when you cut it on in the stand, or are yall walking in with it on?
I don't like to waste the fuel to much, so I try and wait til I'm in the stand before I cut it on, but I cringe everytime I do it since it seems extra loud to me.

I have one of the originals and yes the click to start is pretty loud but just fire it up early before I get close to where I want to hunt. If the skeeters are real bad I start it at the truck already. I have also covered it with my jacket to muffle the sound if I want to start on stand.
Wondering if the newer Thermacells are just as loud to fire up? Anybody have one?
