My guess it is from the milky substance which typically has evaporated since we dry them out for our usage however I felt it was worth posting. I have got that stuff on my hands when splitting open so just be cautious as sometimes we rub our eyes without even knowing we are doing it.

We've used it in the past has a home remedy to remove warts. Put the milk on them for a few days and they shrink

It never bothered my eyes, but my hands get real sticky.
