The easy answer is stay out for now, observe from a distance, scout at the food source, and so on. All of that is true but it may or may not kill the buck if you aren't certain of exactly where the bed is and when he uses it.
This is the most typical answer you'll see for this kind of question but it's not the only choice. Let's face it, even when you have a ton of Intel on a buck there is still a huge chance we won't kill it. You have a short window to get him before your baby comes.
Sometimes I don't think it's a bad idea to go kick them out of there bed and lay eyes on them. Sure you might ruin it for September but maybe not. But now you have the upper hand because you know exactly where he beds, which way he goes when he's jumped and what wind he beds there on. People jump deer all the time. If he already lives near a residential area he may just brush it off and come right back.
This would be my plan of attack with only a two week season before the baby comes. Maybe you blow it BUT WHAT IF IT WORKS!
Think outside the box. The first answer is the cookie cutter answer. The deer don't always play by the rules and neither should we. Sometimes you just have to go for it!
If you're gonna do this, then go one better and try a bump & dump! You're already in there why not set-up and wait for him to come back?
