I live in and hunt Southern Indiana. It's all very area dependent, highly pressured and rests on your ability to find the right lease and hope the surrounding areas are managed halfway decent.
Can be good public hunting depending on when and where.
In my experience on public, as long as you get in and get out before gun season, your fine. Hunting in gun season can be dangerous in my opinion. Some of the places I hunt, opening eeekend sounds like an invasion.
Poaching is a big problem as well.

Great buck. I'd say low 160s gross. Good luck with him

That's it I am moving to Indiana
If only hunting a buck was as easy as getting him on camera over mineral in the summer. I am trying to think of the number of deer I have gotten onto during the season (not saying killed just felt like I had a chance with!) after similar summer time pics and its low. Maybe 1 in 5....
Fun getting pics like that though and good luck!

So true!!! Nothing like a 10 pm pic to get you excited lol. I bet we don't even get another pic of that deer. We just have a couple acres of timber that connect some fields. We are just gonna go down for fun a few times.
For sure you won't kill him if you don't even go back there. You just never know!!!!
Happiness is a large gutpile!!!!!!!
