EHD in Eastern Kentucky
Neighbor down the road found 6 deer dead yesterday. Im going to get out tomorrow and the next day to walk some creeks in my hunting areas and see if I find any dead deer. Really going to be a looong wait till frost. Anybody else finding any dead?

Haven't found anything like that where I am in WV. We have had tons of rain this summer though. Hope it is just an isolated incident.

Confirmed cases in 3 different north eastern counties. Im in the Southeastern part. I've been out alot and havent found anything myself. We have had plenty of rain as well. Im going to get out this weekend and really cover some ground to get an accurate estimate of my area. Got my fingers crossed!

I live in East Tennessee up on the TN/Ky state line. A friend of mine was floating the river a few days ago and found 6 dead.

Re: EHD in Eastern Kentucky
It seems like we get hit here in Kentucky every five years. 2012 was the last significant outbreak, so here we are again. Hopefully, it will be limited by consistent rainfall keeping the deer from congregating around diminishing water resources.
An early frost would be a huge help, too.

Wow. Not good. It hit KS and NE hard in 2012 as well.
I know WTH had a podcast a while back...Lee Lakosky was talking a lot about EHD and how devastating it has been.

Do you know which northeastern counties, specifically?

Yea from what I gather there is a pretty clear line across the midwest - northern Iowa's main concern is flooding have gotten rain like crazy up there. Southern iowa is drought conditions. It extends west and east from there. Nebraska and South Dakota are super dry too not sure about KS. Where there's dry theres EHD

The irony of it is people trying to manage deer ...control what deer gets shot and what deer gets a pass.
Ehd does not care about age class or rack size.

And it hits hardest in the heart of the antler worship region...either someone upstairs has has a sick sense of humor or maybe this is a lesson of some kind
