Should you educate public land yearling bucks
Some times when I see a small spike or 4pt not worthy of my arrow I will try and get them to bust me...see me... I wistle at them..within reason I'm not looking to jump every deer in the area...just hope to teach them about a hunter so they get smarts to make it through the year...why one else do this?

I often refer to those deer as the lil buddy because sometimes a big buck isn't far behind.

Same here. Too many times a mature buck will let a young one lead the way just out of sight... if it is a young buck I know runs on its own, or the approach is obvious there are no others behind it is a good idea. But, I think it could easily backfire on you over the course of a few years. Think about it... you are teaching them about how YOU set up, not how others set up...

I let them walk and do whatever it takes to prevent them from figuring out I'm there. Quite often those smaller bucks come from satellite beds and almost always are on their feet earlier than the mature bucks coming from the preferred bedding.

Bingo!
Teaching is only demonstrating that it is possible.... Learning is making it possible for yourself.

If he runs out of there blowing and snorting then your hunt could be compromised. I prefer to maintain a low profile. #ghostmode

I do just the opposite. I try and be as low impact as I can in any area I hunt. Educating a buck can be counter productive in my opinion. You don't know that he will get educated by other hunters. So now you have shortened the bucks learning curve. Plus you never know when another buck may come by while your schooling the 4 pointer.
You can fool some of the bucks, all of the time, and fool all of the bucks, some of the time, however you certainly can't fool all of the bucks, all of the time.

Absolutely not. Bigger deer can follow. I prefer to not be known about by any deer at any givin time

I pretty much follow what the others have said and try to stay undetected. You're either educating those young deer to your tactics, or potentially blowing a chance at another deer lagging behind.
The only time I'll try to get a deer to see me or otherwise spook is if I have a non-target animal that has slipped down wind of me and is blowing. If it isn't the rut, I'll try to move them along. If it's the rut, I'll just let them blow, especially if it's a doe.

No...Never!
If another hunter in that area shoots him, he's out of the woods and not able to shoot the mature buck I'm after.

I don't educate them. I can think a few of the better bucks I've shot that I saw a yearling minutes before. I know someone that purposely spooked a yearling to get them from crossing the line and getting shot. Michigan your allowed two bucks. Majority will shoot the first legal buck they see.

One thing I do to educate them, though... any time I see one of those illegal, permanent setups with trimmed lanes 60 yards long on an archery only property, I stink them up real good. I find the trails they are sitting on, and I walk from each trail DIRECTLY to the stand. I touch about every branch, trunk, or leaf I come across. I can educate them on other guys setups without blowing my setups. If it looks like a fairly low impact hunter, I take note of the pressure and quietly move on.

Like it! I don't hunt any public but if I did seems if one created some nasty rub lines close to available parking with some easy climb trees close by u could get a lot of peeps out your way. Might not be the most noble thing to do, but u don't earn the name Boogieman by going around doing good deeds all day!

I prefer to educate them when they are 4.5+ at least so I never get a crack at em. So far it's working!
