Any strong preference Lone Wolf Assault or Alpha?
I'm gonna get a LW hang-on w/ sticks and can only afford one stand. Anyone have a preference for the Assault or Alpha? And why?
Do the 3 extra pounds on the Alpha really make a difference?

I own both, I use the Assault at least 90% of the time.

Re: Any strong preference Lone Wolf Assault or Alpha?
I have both i use the Alpha more.
Assault Negatives to me doesnt bite into the tree as much the back v isnt as wide as Alpha. Assault seems to move around more on bigger trees.
Alpha negatives 3 pounds heavier but you will not feel it.
Alpha Positives. The extra 4 inches is definitely noticeable. Bigger v bracket better hold for large trees.
If your hunting small diameter trees in thick cover go assault.
If you hunt large diameter trees go Alpha.

to be honest it's personal preference. some like the smaller platform some dont. to me the extra lbs isn't to bad. I have the 8lb assault and an alpha but I'll grab my alpha before the assault because it gives me more footroom. either choice there both good stands for any situation.

I would say it also depends on your comfort with heights and how big you are. I don't like heights, and I am a big guy. I got an alpha.
With a waist belt, you don't notice the weight difference at all

I was in the same situation as you last year. Couldn't afford both and didn't know of anyone with one I could try out. I went alpha last year since it was the same platform as the climber I used. Going from a LW hand climber to the Alpha with 4 sticks there was definitely a noticeable weight difference. This year I decided to try out a smaller stand so I went with a XOP vanish. Don't have any experience using it so can't give you to much input on the major differences yet.

I owned both and 95% of the time I grabbed my Alpha so I sold my Assault. I like the larger Alpha platform and the extra weight isn't even noticeable to me.

I have both and highly prefer the Alpha. I only use the assault when I'm hunting with someone else and need a second stand. I've never noticed the weight difference.

Had the assault and have the alpha. Assault was to small platform for me. Alpha is more comfy with the extra weight

Re: Any strong preference Lone Wolf Assault or Alpha?
I was considering the same, but someone suggested the XOP Vanish. Its 1" longer platform than the assault and "weighs the same". It is a sharp looking stand, Andrea and Cody designed it, so iv decided to go w it. Good luck

Alpha if I had to choose between the two... With that said, I might be throwing my hat in the ring with a new stand and sticks in the near future. Submitting a patent right now. I have a background with treestand R&D and I specialize in R&D in my day job. I really wanted to make the best stand for a mobile hunter. I think I have it, now if I can just get it to market without going broke... Nobody else really markets or designs hang-ons for the mobile guy.

I have a proto-type now. Just having a second version made to make it a little beefier in some areas.
