Mostly what I am think is trying to get a 200lbs deer out. Most of the short way out is to steep to think of climbing it with that in tow. I do have to start thinking like most of you have said :Get it on the ground FIRST then the story of how I got it out would make the hunt one to remember.

I could care less about the recovery. I focus on the hard part, killing the buck. After I kill the buck I then figure out how to get him out. Never left one in the woods yet.
You can fool some of the bucks, all of the time, and fool all of the bucks, some of the time, however you certainly can't fool all of the bucks, all of the time.

Many spots I will only shoot shoot a nice buck...especially if marsh wet like this year
