Superstitions?
Just curious if anyone else has a routine or any superstitions they used to believe in/ still believe in?
I'll start. Some of mine.
Used to listen to Tenascious D or Metallica on the truck ride to where we were hunting every time I hunted with my buddies.
Use to wash my clothes after every hunt.
Was convinced I wouldn't see a deer unless I wore my lucky beanie.
Couldn't have a hunting knife with me or I wouldn't see a deer.
Some of the stuff I used to do was just ridiculous. Makes me chuckle.

Perfection is a dream, practice is hard work, and achieving a goal is making that goal a reality.

Re: Superstitions?
Clean all the mounts an make them look good. Just a few nights before season opener. Makes for a good season.
I'm reason they call it hunting and not shooting.

Re: Superstitions?
I use to religiously wash my clothes after every single hunt PERIOD...I was obsessed with it. When I was a kid, 12-13 years old, I would wear different ball hats til I saw a deer and that would be my lucky hat, and I would not leave the house without for nothing. Now I could care less about scent control, and it has made the hunt so much more enjoyable its crazy.

Re: Superstitions?
None for me. I just totally prepare myself mentally before every hunt like a pro athlete does before a big competition. Every aspect of the hunt gets played in my head.

Re: Superstitions?
One of the craziest superstitions lots of hunters have talked about is that deer move best when the moon is right
Just kiddin guys.....
I have never had any lucky objects or anything like that. The more prepared I am the better luck I seem to have.....

I think that's every hunters dream before hunting.

Re: Superstitions?
I thought if I put a lot of time in on stand at the 6 stand sites I had one would eventually show up and I thought I had a good idea where bucks bedded. Those 2 thoughts where my lucky charm if u will. Key word is thought instead of I know.

Re: Superstitions?
I got to go through and double check things like a pack ,stand, bow,and clothes the night before i go hunting and have it ready for in the morning. If i don't,i dont as well hunting mentality cause i forget something and dont realize it till i get to the stand. And that makes my whole hunt miserable, so a pre check the night before is my superstition!

Re: Superstitions?
I've usually got 1 arrow I feel flies the best. That always goes in the #1 slot in the quiver. Then on the string on stand.

Re: Superstitions?
Well I'm not the superstitious kind of guy. The years I have heard the opening day deer hunting song I don't shoot my buck. Last season we pulled into the firelane as soon as it came on and I hit the mute button. Shot a 9 pointer that day and my BIL was the first to say. It's a good thing you hit the mute button.

I have a "lucky" ball cap that I wear during the archery season.
