What brings you to that part of the state dan? That's my neck of the woods?
Edit my question too. Is that farm country?

Re: Some still holding
Yea that is late. The latest I have seen a buck with hard horn was April 17th one year...that was close to 20 years ago.
All Feb and March I did not see a single buck with antlers. Then on the evening of March 31st I saw a pair of basket racks with antlers still. It is all over the place this year.

You must have had to almost step on that antler with its dark color. They are hard to find up there.

Re: Some still holding
I am still hearing and seeing camera pics with bucks holding antlers here in Central PA. Very odd.

Re: Some still holding
I've heard of a few seen in PA in early April. Would this late holding have any effect on antler growth this summer?

Sorry to say I can't find any sign of him. His rubline was not used last year. I got him on camera in august, but then he just vanished. Hunted him a few times, but only dinks came out of bedding. It could be that he moved cause there were no acorns there last fall, and maybe he will be back... But he was there the winter before and not this winter, so hope is fading... Going to put the old bear bait back there again this year and see though...
