I put in about 10 miles this weekend walking some public land. This area is riverbottom and swamp. Following Dan's advice, I focused much of my scouting on the transition lines between the woods and cattails. The rub on the tree caught my eyes first. As I went to investigate I found a bed like the ones I have seen in Dan's videos. The area surrounding the bed was fairly low grass with woods to the south, cattails/large slough to the north. All the trees by the bed had rubs on them and some nice back cover right next to the bed. Finding a mature buck bed is as rewarding if not more than finding a shed antler. Cant' wait to get back out there and find some more!

Great job!
Remember too that the grass and cattails will be much taller following greenup.

Nice find... I agree with Singing bridge. An early season bed most likely. Based on the rubs probably pre-rut.

I was thinking to myself how open that area is. Dan is likely right with his assumption (like usual)
That bed doesn't look rounded out at all... Could possibly be he only uses that bed with wind blowing woods to 'tails?? sometimes swamp/marsh beds aren't wind specific but that one looks pretty defined.

Great find.
Like others have mentioned. That will look much different come green up. Its hard to picture sometimes, but that grass gets thick and tall come summer.

I found a bed with a rub right beside it this past weekend. It looks almost like what you found. Congratulations on your find. Good luck this season.
