Wonder how many other guys would post a video or share this story about missing...Great stuff. Don't know about anyone else but it's nice to know this stuff does happen to other hunters (Even really good ones).

Shows how good of a person Dan is. Some guys wouldn't even consider shooting the doe and would rather see it die painfully than have to drag it out of the marsh. Reasons like this are why I am here and supporting Dan and what he does. Morally and ethically, you can't do it better than that.

But onto a more serious thing..... Who else noticed the mustache? That thing is awesome!

The very first deer I ever took with a bow was a doe with a severe limp in her left hindquarter. I didn't think to check to see if anything was broken, but the neighbors around the private piece of land I was hunting had said they had seen a lame doe in the spring and summer of that year. I was after a beautiful 8-pointer that I had caught on trail cam earlier that year, but I didn't think she would survive the winter, so I filled my tag with her.

Lo and behold, 2 weeks later, since I was done for the year, guess what came walking directly in front of my stand?

Knowing what I know now, I'd still do it again, but I'd probably gnash my teeth a little more.

So... I feel your pain, brother. But yeah, it was the right thing to do.

Great video Dan as usual!

I haven't kept track of how many crippled deer I have put down over the years but its been a lot. Must be close to 20. Comes with covering a lot of ground particularly late season. A lot of does and shed bucks and a few antlered bucks, often small ones. Like most right decisions, its not really a decision at all, just the right thing to do.

Great video ...Definitely the right thing to do. I think it is a great service to the hunting community as a whole that you post these types of videos..I know many folks respect you as the " Big Buck Serial Killer", but frankly these types of decisions is what earns my respect...I imagine most hunters who frequent the beast would do the same...For those out there that wouldnt, well a check up from the neck up would certainly be in order...

You made the right call Dan. great video and these are the types of things that people who don't like hunting need to see...make the right choice even if it isn't the easy one.

I echo the rest of the posts. Got to shoot the doe IMO. Great video!

You made the right choice Dan. I don't care to shoot antlerless deer anymore but if a wounded one like that comes in range I will make an exception. It's our duty as sportsman to take out the wounded or crippled animals especially if they are obviously struggling like that one. Your arrow would have been much more humane than starving to death or getting eaten alive by coyotes.
