Congrats on the buck and doe. The gun looks great man, pretty darn neat to put some deer down with a gun you built.

Re: Season of highs and lows..Ended on a high
Thanx guys!!!
I'm my toughest critic. I am proud of the rifle and learned a LOT. I am determined to correct my mistakes on the next one!
Stash, I am going to try to do just that...Maybe like a journal with pics of what I worked on each day.
I wished I'd done it with this one...Looking at it, you just can't get a sense of what went into it....The metal work...Cast steel is a monster lol. I spent several hours on each steel piece cleaning them...I didn't bother going to a fine polish because I wanted a little rougher of a blue...
Several hours into bluing the steel...I did that myself.
The stock work...Getting the parts inlet was 1 tiny wood chip at a time with a chisel...
The stock shaping was my favorite part...I removed a good bit of wood...Reshaped the lock panels and the cheek piece.
Eventually I want to learn to carve the stock and metal.
I'd love to get to the point of being able to produce and sell rifles when I retire in about 22 years lol. Don't know if it's realistic or not but I'd love to finish a gun a year till then. I know once I buy a house and maybe get married and maybe have kids life will change...But I really enjoyed it and hope I can continue learning and building.
