Late Season Magic
http://www.whitetaildna.com/journal/2016/12/12/late-season-magic-whitetaildna-journal
Here is my journal post on how I was finally able to make it happen here in my home state of North Dakota. I have been a lot more mobile this year, thanks in large part to this site. I interviewed Dan for my blog back in November on hunting bedding areas during the rut, but I took more out of it than just rut hunting. It's about being able to adapt, and move, and get close to those bedding areas. Well this past Friday, I did just that, and it couldn't have worked out any better. I did a run and gun setup, was within two hundred yards of two bedding areas, and ended up seeing somewhere north of 70 deer, and had my buck at five steps. Everything is detailed in the journal post, including pictures, it was an epic hunt! Definitely a day I will never forget.

You can fool some of the bucks, all of the time, and fool all of the bucks, some of the time, however you certainly can't fool all of the bucks, all of the time.

Re: Late Season Magic
Great story. I have no idea how you guys handle that cold like that. I sat for 3 hours Saturday and it was 20 degrees or so. I was literally unable to pull my sticks out of the tree and had to have a friend do it. This morning, Monday, my fingers still didn't feel right.
This is wearing the best of the best clothing, down hand muff with heat packs, boot blankets and the whole works. I think sometimes I have something wrong with me.

Re: Late Season Magic
Thanks guys, it was a pretty awesome day!
And briar, it's brutal, no other way to put it. I do have a heater body suit for days like that, but of course I left mine in the truck. You know it's cold when your nose hairs are literally frozen!

What a hunt! Thanks for sharing.
Do you normally hunt on the fly with a blind?
