Great video, usually I am excited for the hunt part but the first couple minutes was something I think everyone should sit back and think about next time on stand.

It's good to see how you handled a bad shot like that. I've never shot one with a bow yet so there's some good info here. Question tho, what were the temps like? Just curious as to how this effects the meat with a gut shot and then having to leave her overnight. Here if we have mild temperatures I don't know that the meat will be any good.

I'm sure God will have a place for you watching over a field of deer. I always enjoy your vids dan. Most would have pushed that deer checking for blood down her trail. ThAt was a good recover.

Great video Dan!! I have those same thoughts when I'm the stand. I just try and soak it all in, like you were doing. Thanks for sharing.

Re: 18 feet closer to God...
I took alot of video of just my thoughts throughout the season. Ups, downs, highlights, frustration with weather (no snow), frustration not seeing mature bucks, second guessing a buck I maybe should have shot... I saw alot of deer and poured it on in terms of time and effort. But I think 2017 is going to be "earn a buck" year... in terms of "smarter not harder." More scouting, better health goals. Who knows. It's not over yet but it's close to over...
That all said, I've had a great time hunting in 50F and sun, rain, blowing snow... I've driven a thousand miles, seen tons of deer, walked miles, hunted with friends, helped my dad get a slob out of the woods... saw how happy he was. All of it.. hard to complain.
Also a friend I made here on the Beast tracked and killed a slob. I've also made a couple friends hunting late season public.
