Do you kill the majority of your big bucks with a doe ?
Trying to determine if most big bucks are killed when tending a doe during the rut. This comes to question as I have only killed a couple of good bucks over the years that were with a doe during the rut. Lets say all of your buck kills over 1.5 years old. This should eliminate the mature, big buck etc. debate. looking for bigger buck kills that were with a doe or with out a doe during the rut. Not a debate just looking for statistics.
You can fool some of the bucks, all of the time, and fool all of the bucks, some of the time, however you certainly can't fool all of the bucks, all of the time.

On my largest rut bucks I'm about at 50/50 with a doe.

50/50 here. But my biggest and oldest this year was alone. I suspect that bucks 4 and older taken would have a larger % killed alone vs. 2 and 3 yr. olds added to the mix.

Killed my 2 biggest bucks this year during the rut. The first was defiantly a mature buck with a doe. I would say at least a 5 yo. Exactly one week later I killed the other by himself. I have to say 50/50

Most have been alone. However my biggest, most mature was with two does....following them and grunting the whole way in.

For me at least 95% have been alone. last buck that I can remember was 2005 before that one 1991 That may be all that I can remember anyway.

The biggest that I have shot was alone. However the biggest that I have seen in the woods was following a doe. I missed the doe and 5 seconds later here he comes running same trail and was gone by the time I got another arrow on. Blame that one on being 16 and not smart enough to let the doe go during the rut.

I've never killed any bucks with a doe. I've seen quite a few sub 2.5yr olds with them but never anything over 2 in my state

1 out of the 5 bucks I have killed was with a doe. In that instance 2 bucks were chasing a group of 6 does and fawns.2 of the 5 I would say were fully mature and they were both cruising alone mid morning.

I only have a couple big bucks killed in the rut. Most of my bigger bucks were pre rut bucks. Of the two big rut kills I have (150's and 160s), only one of which was "with" a doe.

Re: Do you kill the majority of your big bucks with a doe ?
I've never killed a buck with a doe during the rut. But I've only killed 2 mature bucks. I have no idea how many young bucks I passed either chasing does or downwind of known doe bedding.
Let me expound I mean never killed a buck with a doe in close proximity I killed my buck and a doe immediately after, but they were over 200 yards apart. I don't doubt if I would have let him close on them he would have given chase.

Re: Do you kill the majority of your big bucks with a doe ?
I read the origins of this question on the rutting bucks thread, and had to chuckle. The reason is that most of the bucks I have killed in the rut were alone and cruising, but the buck I estimate to be the oldest was with a doe.
