SNOW!!!

I wish I had snow. All I've got are the palm trees and white sandy beaches...lucky

I can't recall the last time I hunted in the snow.

There is no doubt it's a tough hunt. Lots of land and few deer. I don't keep records but I know that I average about 1 deer sighting per day. I have gone 7 days straight without seeing a deer more than once. I love the big woods though and find it hard to hunt anywhere else. I think the reward is much more satisfying when I do connect.
Being mobile is the key and not just being mobile in one area but also being willing to move to different areas.I have notired that areas go hot and cold. I see a lot of hunters making the mistake of hunting the same land year after year even if it's not producing. I also see the very dedicated hunters making the mistake of over pressuring an area. I don't want to make this into a baiting vs non baiting debate but baiting really effects deer behavior and movement in a negative way. Unpressured bucks will move during the daytime. Baiting tends to make deer nocturnal.

You can keep it...lol. Kill my fair share of deer here but I hunt here because its where I live and I love to hunt. My hunting heart is in the midwest.

Cool example Magic.

Wish I could get up north more often. Maine I am one of those nuts who likes to drive 6 hours north and spend time in the bigwoods with no deer

By comparison consistently killing big bucks in farm country is so easy its a joke. Hats off to the northwoods hunters!

I know all about it. I spend 100s of hours scouting to kill 3.5yr old buck with my bow. If your a rifle nut, love to track, northwoods gives plenty of space to roam. Its why guys love it. There is a certain allure to the northwoods that guys love. I can cross the road from my house and walk for 10 miles before I hit another road. Cross a mountain. Cross 2 mountains.

I didn't realize how big your roadless tracts are. We have miles upon miles of public but except for a few wilderness areas it's pretty unusual to go more than 2 miles without hitting at least a gravel logging road

Great stuff. Thanks for sharing and helping others.

Is there a way that I can actually see the photos posted other than just the photobucket image?

Bump. This is a golden reminder. Any way to get the pics to load correctly? They are showing up blurry...

Such a great post!
