Buck Bed Trail Cam Pics

Unread postby Haus86 » Sat Nov 19, 2016 11:34 am

I did some scouting today since I filled my tag last week. I put a trail camera up over a buck bed in late August, and finally got to check the pictures today. The buck bed didn't seem as heavily used as last year, but on the bright side, I got some really neat pictures and picked out a killer tree for next year.

Absolutely awesome!!! Nice job Haus! That looks to be a hill country bed? When you have time I would love to hear if he bedded their only on certain winds and anything else you can figure out. Thanks for doing this!

Curious, how long did you have the camera on there? How many different bucks used the bed? Did they bed on the expected wind?

Good stuff!! There's something about a pic of a buck in it's bed... I love it.

How many different bucks did you get using the bed? How often?

The bed sets up best for a South wind. I got pics of a couple small bucks and does using the bed as well. I haven't checked old weather data yet. The first buck was only there twice. Last year it looked more heavily used, and this year it was more sporadic, and not very consistent. There was a new stand hung 200 yards away, which may have played a role in the bed cooling off.

That is extremely cool!

Great opportunity for a lot of good things to learn.

I'd be interested in what where the average times those bucks arrived in the morning and when they left in the evening? And did they usually stay there all day?

^yeah, I'm interested in that. I'd also like somebody who is a big time bed hunter to weigh in on your hypothesis about that stand 200 yds away.
