small victories

Unread postby creepingdeth » Wed Nov 16, 2016 4:24 pm

starting last winter, i thought i might try bowhunting because i have some areas nearby(public) , a much longer season, and rifle hunting is a hectic race to get up north every weekend. I started by finding the places, learning to read topo maps, getting a gps, and walking around. Beginning of summer i found a way to buy a bow, shot all summer, made mistakes ,asked questions, fixed the problems ( learned how to set up my bow). The place I dreamed about hunting was flooded ALL summer, never even could get in it. Now I know why you always need that backup plan (or 3). hunted some other WMAs and seen deer while on the stand. Victory #1!!! A big deal for me. Today I set up in my #1 spot. Way more fresh sign than anything so far. Seen a doe that came out downwind.I thought to myself that only a short time ago I was dreaming of this setup. It doesnt get much better than this, victory#2...
I love being in the woods , doesnt matter if im in a stand or scouting. Walking very slow and looking at everything. Sign is around if I choose to notice. Asking myself why a deer would do this or that.
It took a lot of time and work to get to where I am. The cool part is Im gonna keep getting better as a hunter. Right now I deer hunt ,but w some wins I want to become a mature buck slayer. Victory #3...I quit drinking...W/o that none of this would be possible.
Much thanks to God and all the beasts out there who make my brain do some work....like I say, hunt hard but hunt safe :handgestures-thumbupright:
