Re: Muzzleloading
100 grains loose powder. I grew up shooting the mountain man standard 100 grains and a prb but I shoot sabots now

Re: Muzzleloading
In my older CVA Mountainstalker 80g Goex ffg pushing a prb or Maxi-ball. Nothing beats real BP in a traditional BP rifle.
In my newer TC Impact inline I am running 100g of 777 (2-50g pellets) pushing a 250g Hornady SST saboteurs bullet.
It varies greatly depending on what you are shooting.

Any suggestions of what to use in a remington model 700? Currently using 100g of pyrodex shooting powerbelts.

Re: Muzzleloading
In my TC 50cal Hawken it's 90gr of 3f and a patched ball or 70gr and a 245gr Buffalo Ball-et. Actually both loads shoot same POI as far as I've shot.
In the gun I just finished building I'm shooting 100gr of 3f with a 300gr Thor on top. It's a 50cal flint barrel with a 1:28" twist.

I have th same gun. Very accurate with the load I mentioned above. Dan borrowed it last year. He can vouch for the load.

Re: Muzzleloading
I shoot a CVA Optima and have had fantastic results with Blackhorn 209 powder, Winchester primers, and Barnes sabots. Mine prefers 90 grains by volume and the yellow Barnes Spitfire Expanders. My brother in law's Optima likes the blue Barnes TEZ. Both perform superior on impact than any other mz bullet I've tried. Will never go back to a Shockwave/SST or Powerbelthe after seeing this level of performance.

Re: Muzzleloading
I was asking this because as I was sighting in my mussleloader with a new scope I mounted my rifle failed to ignite twice with the t7 pellets. My fire chief had some pyrodex pellets to use and worked just fine. After a couple shots of pyrodex I tried another load of t7 and it went off but had a second delay. Not sure if they had got moisture in them or what but i just bought them last season amd they were still sealed

Re: Muzzleloading
Are you using caps? I converted mine to use 209 primers. When u did that it was instant ignition, no delay at all.

Sounds like the pellets. I vaccum seal my pellets and primers for storage.
