Good Luck Tuesday Michigan

Unread postby Uncle Lou » Mon Nov 14, 2016 4:36 am

Well the migration north for over a half million (always thought it was more than that, Tri County times said 1/2Mil yesterday) deer hunters for the opener has begun. Also known as the orange army.

Good luck, shoot straight, and safe travels. I will be leaving soon, I'm in a gray pick up truck so if you see me honk :D

Good luck Uncle Lou! Safe travels. I'm off for the next 5 days but will be sticking around home, northern oakland county.

Yeah good luck guys. It sounds like a Michigan gun season is extremely rich in tradition, even more so than WI. I like that kinda stuff. I think its a good thing that your gun season lands on the 15th of Nov, regardless. Makes everything even steven over 7 year periods.

I won't be going. Good luck to everyone.

Good luck all!!

Hope you guys don't mind sharing the woods with this Pennsylvania hunter!

I'm anxious to see what the morning brings. I've walked several miles since Saturday.

I am settled on a spot to be in the morning....going to run in now and set my phone and GPS to track my route...didn't see any signs of hunters back there... hopefully they come in from all around and I'm sitting in the middle of a deer parade.

Well I'm back. Hope all had a good opener, and to those that didnt get out, hope this weekend brings you success.

The tradition of the Michigan gun opener is unreal to me. As a Southern Illinois boy I was afraid of the gun opener my first 5 seasons up here. Now I try not to miss it, just something about going up north, and running into people you only see once a year, some from down here, some from up there.

I found the warm dry conditions tough for my still hunting and sightings in the national forest were down, but I saw a buck on a doe each day of my hunt. About 10 miles of walking finally yielded an 8 pt (I mean 7 one was broken). I get a lot of broken and messed up racks, oh well.
