Proud dad and the making of a future beast

Last Christmas I bought my boys a crossbow so they could start archery hunting. My 13 year old has seemed to loose interest but my nine year old is all in. Thanks to Pa's mentor program I have been putting every evening in with him when he wanted to go. The second week of archery he had a shot at a five point and shot right over its back due to me misjudging the yardage a bit. He made up for it the next weekend when he shot this button buck.

I started hunting the last weekend of October and I finally got my buck yesterday morning. He came in through a doe bedding area and I let the air out of his lungs at 30 yards.

My son got home from school and wanted to go so off we went. Ten minutes in the stand this 8pt came through and he shot him at 12 yards. He's tagged out for the year and he's not happy about it! He's hooked! I have a feeling he's going to slam some great deer in the future. I couldn't be more proud of him.

yeah congrats love seeing the kiddos getting in the game. Congrats to the young hunter and proud papa. My son got his first at 9 and he is stoked for a couple trips I got planned for us Dec and Jan.
