Night Before Christmas....BEAST style!

Twas the night before Christmas and all through the house,
Not a creature was stirring, except the wife in her blouse,
The treestand was hung in the old oak with care,
In hopes that one of St.Nicks top bucks would soon offer a shot there,
The children were nestled all snug in their bed,
While visions of slob whitetails danced in my head,
And my arrow was knocked as slid on my cap,
Waiting and watching to give a reindeer a dirt knap,
When out of the thicket there arose such a clatter,
It was getting colder and my knees begin to chatter,
When, what to my wondering eyes did apear,
but host of 8 P&Y reindeer,
With the final buck so warry and wise,
I knew in a moment I wanted him for a prize,
As a I drew back my string back on the ghostly figure,
I settled my pin on his vitals,then pulled the trigger,
The arrow flew true, double lung shot it doth appear,
Complete pass thru on a beast of a deer,
He kicked once then off he went in a bound,
I kept calling out...go down, go down!,
Then just like that down he went in the snow,
I remembered telling my wife a hunting I must go,
I knew in a flash Santa was mad,
His deer count is 7, 8 he had,
For the childrens sake lets hope he can fly with 7,
But as for me I was in whitetail heaven,
And now on the naughty list Ill be there forever,
But to pass a shot up like that, I say never,
As I sat in that oak, Id nothing now to fear,
I wouldnt be eating tag soup this year,
The buck was dressed in winter fur, crismon stained of course,
Backstraps for Christmas dinner without feeling remorse,
A twinkle in my eye as I admired his rack,
Then reality struck in, Im 5 miles back,
So with that I got him on my kids Christmas sleigh,
And through the harsh hill country I made my way,
My legs they were burning, difficult you say? yes it was very,
But the smile on my face, boy was it merry,
And the beard of my chin was frozen with ice,
But the heavy long rack....man it is nice!,
Pulling back up to my old homested,
This buck could no longer haunt me, I now had his head,
I walk thru the door and crack open a beer,
The wife wakes the children and they all begin to cheer,
We gave thanks to Lord for another blessed year,
but especialy i thanked him for creating the elusvie mature deer,
Then back to bed, to get rest we went,
Man Im so tired, Im really spent,
So Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night,
As for hunting Christmas day.....I think I might!

Merry Christmas to all the Beast Members! Ive learned a ton and have enjoyed getting to know some of you this year! Best of luck of whats left of another whitetail season! It aint over till its over!

Thanks Dan and others for the comments. I wrote it last night while sitting in the cat napper. I wanted to have a nursey rhyme poem to say to my little girl that had our own "spin" to it. I was on the Beast cruising it late last night and got it inspired. Done a little word changing and tada!
