Ok, I give in....Going mobile, the right way....
Beast moders, I have read your stuff quite a bit lately and it seems that going mobile is the only way to go to kill MATURE bucks. I could have taken a mature one last night if I would have had a hang on. I hunt a lot of our private land with pre set stands and I wonder why I haven't taken too much heavy horn off our land.....! All of your comments, Dans poll from the other day about "mobile or preset", my encounters the last few days, has made me a believer. So the question;
What stands and sticks and accessories would you guys recommend? I think I saw somewhere on a thread that there are some good modifications that can be made? Also, best place to purchase from? Thanks guys, I value your opinions, and will go with the consensus from your replies. I am 6'3 and 240 lbs.

Re: Ok, I give in....Going mobile, the right way....
lots of us prefer either loNE wolf or xop for the cast stands for quietness.
when I do all day sits I bring the climber for more comfort.
I like the xopp sticks over the lone wolf because they are farther from the tree and the steps is longer for more boot room. now the stand is personal preference on size of the stand u want. I have the older 8.5 assault and and alpha and I always grab my assault for quick hunts.
if I was in ur shoes I would go with an alpha or air raid with xop sticks

For stand and long sits i prefur my millenium m100 imo you cant get a better stand seat combo, and at 11.5 lbs its light enough for being mobile, for sticks ive have a few from old rapid rails, which are nice to climb but noisy from the construction, ive tried muddy sticks too the mini's but imo lone wolf sticks with the stealth strips work great.i also use a game plan tts, treestand transport system makes it so nice to pack in on long walks

Chuck B
I think I am going to go with the xop silver series and a four pack of xop sticks. Its 325 shipped from jet.com. I don't plan on hunting out of it this year but my goal is to use it exclusively next year. This way I will have all offseason to practice and silence the set-up. I will probably post a thread in the equipment forum about everything I do to the stand cause I love feedback, especially from the guys on here.

Good luck with your changes. They should get you on bigger deer.
My setup is xop stand with muddy steps. They have are a two step stick and I like that. One on each side at each height.
Next big choice will be hunting harness or rock climbing harness.
I'm in the RC camp and enjoy using it verses a hunting harness being a just in case item.
No right or wrong just a journey forward.

You can also find some good deals on craigslist if you are so inclined.

Lone wolf- 5 sticks- might as well get some stealth strips from uncle lue and stick tallons from cigbear. I need to get some tallons myself- and a third hand bow holder. That was my new addition for this year and love so far. There are some other silencing threads that will be helpful

Great, thanks everyone. I will look for the silence threads and will hit up Lou and cig for the accessories. This is exactly what I was looking for.
If Dan says lone wolf, lone wolf it is... Haha but true. As for sticks, thx for recommendations I will look at some of those closer. I do like American made, like Dan said. Let's make America great again.....!

Re: Ok, I give in....Going mobile, the right way....
The majority of mobile hunters on here like lone wolf stands.
I don't have anything against lone wolf at all but prefer a tree saddle in most situations. I know some of it is personal preference but I think my tree saddle setup is lighter, faster setup, and more versatile overall than any stand. It also cost a bit less probably. Check out saddlehunter.com for lots of saddle hunting ideas. One word of advice, some guys think saddles are comfortable and some don't so I would recommend trying one before buying if you know anyone who uses one. I think in general the more fit you are, the more comfortable you will find a saddle. Anyway, its an option to consider.

Lone Wolf and XOP are definitely popular. I have a fried who loves his Millennium M-100. I just purchased a Guidos Web this year and love it. I find the saddle type stands to be more quiet and lighter but any of the above can get you in the game and it's largely a personal preference.

Lone Wolf!!! Have never met a person with regrets after buying a lone wolf. Cant say the same for XOP. "American made vs China made"

I would say definitely consider using a rock climbing harness. In my opinion its more useful of a harness than a full body harness.
