Weather Question

Unread postby Jdaukontas » Wed Oct 26, 2016 3:43 am

Calling for snow and high winds in my area Thursday morning. Is it worth getting out and freezing? This will be our first snow of the year.

I don't have any experience to offer but I will say I'm planning to hunt after the first snow fall... there's something very exciting about hunting fresh tracks in the snow.

The day after the years 1st snow can be magical. We hunters can see them much easier. Plus the deer don't seem to realize how much more vulnerable they are yet.

Of course the whole after the cold front thing is working too.

Two years ago my brother harvested a 160 class buck on public on Friday. We saw good mature buck movement on Saturday morning as well. Saturday night it snowed for the first time of the year. The next morning my other brother and his friend killed a 140 and 150 on public. Never seen anything like that before but whenever a front is coming through I think it is worth a shot.
