So I see all the time about hunting the leeward side of the ridge and also see talk of hunting saddles and other terrain features. So my question is, would a buck use a saddle to cross from the leeward side to the windward side? And why would he if they like to travel the leeward side? Will does bed on the windward side?

Re: Hill country question
Nothing is set in stone. They run the leeward side because it gives them an advantage, I'm sure they may use a saddle to change sides of a ridge. If a buck was checking for hot doe he may use the path of least resistance to access a different ridge. They are good at keeping themselves in a situation that advantageous to them, but they make a mistake if they're chasing a doe.
