What to do now????

Unread postby Trailcamaddict » Sun Oct 16, 2016 7:00 am

Last night I hit one of my October lull spots. There was no lull. 5:00 I hear a buck rubbing a tree 75 yards to my east. After about 20 min he started to move away so I hit him with a soft grunt. Suddenly a 140"8pt (no exaggeration) stands up out of another bed 60 yards to the south if me and proceeds to rip up some trees in the marsh. Then I hear water splashing to my west and i see more antlers coming. Long story short only one came within shooting distance and was actually at 10 yards and saw me in my tree. The other two never knew I was there. All three were shooters. I'm thinking of going back tonight because I can't hunt for at least a week after this. Once the leaves are off thus spot is extremely difficult to hunt. What are your thoughts?

I would say go now as well! There's a chance they haven't crossed you're scent trail since it's only been 24 hrs. Obviously there's a chance they have though too, but if you know three shooters are in the area I say give it a go. Good luck!

Better now than never. Or next week.

That's the beauty of planning out your season phase by phase!

Gotta love the prerut. Bucks full of testosterone. Hit it again. Maybe you'll get lucky.

So I am in the stand waiting. Let see what happens. This is low odds now but better than nothing. Good luck to all tonight on this hot, humid, windy, bad moon, October lull night.

Hey at least you tried! Maybe try to look at some topos and aerials and see if you can possibly locate a couple areas they may be using for bedding now.
