Gun Season Openers in Hill Country?

Ive never done much in gun seasons, but had a few opportunities at good bucks. Most of my big bucks have been during archery.

In Hill Country of WV, OH, IN, IL, IA for example, how does archery during the rut compare to gun hunting after activity has peaked?

I hear lots of talk about rut funnels in the hills, but not much about gun hunting, or especially gun openers. Just curious what people have noticed. Here during Michigan gun openers, people are everywhere unless you get wet and muddy. And even then sometimes you have company.
