What's in your pack?

It doesn't matter how I am hunting my back pack always has my license, a thermos of coffee, some snacks, gutting cloves that go above the elbow, an extra knife, a drag rope, a range finder and extra batteries, ammo, some TP, a frog togs rain suit, several packets of hand warmers, a compass, small binoculars, an extra pen and wet wipes, a flashlight and a draw string plastic bag to put my trash in.

Early season mobile hunts I don't carry too much. I hunt with a Summit climber with one side bag, molle waist belt/harness, and a third hand bow holder. Wear my safety harness. Bow in hand. 8x32 binos and rangefinder on a Rick Young Outdoors harness. Release, phone, milkweed in pockets. In the side bag I keep a small folding saw, tp, tree strap, couple dozen limblights, and kill kit (Havalon, couple pairs latex gloves, and a few strips of orange flagging). On the molle belt I have a couple pouches, and keep a compass in one and the other is extra depending on what else I want (water bottle, gps sometimes, facemask,etc). I have one of those harnesses for the Thermacell that holds extra mats and butane, and I strap it to the molle shoulder strap walking in so I can turn it on a couple hundred yards out from where I plan to stop. Stuff may sound spread out but everything is where I need it going in/out and once in a tree,and I don't need to fumble with a pack.

Have pruners, hand saw, bow holder, and bow rope under bungee on climber that holds the two parts together.

fanny pack: regular size traction belt for lone wolf(for when tree is too small for the Xl size)

Less is better but my general gear is in a fanny pack including license, pull up rope, range finder, binos, deer calls, multi tool, flashlight and bow release. Other than that I'll have my bow, harness and waders if needing to cross the creeks

I'm a pack mule compared to you guys, but my pack changes by the season. I couldn't get away with a fanny early season simply due to the amount of water I carry. Minimum 4 bottles of water usually 6. Always have 2 thermocell. A knife, GPS, compass, 2 headlamps, paracord, small first aid kit, TP, Binos, food if all day sit, small snack bars if less, deer drag, gut gloves, frog toggs if rain forcasted, Emergency poncho if not. Maybe a grunt. Limb saw, prunners. One of these days I should weight my early season pack, but really don't want to know.

My rut setup weighs 35lb, you have to be pushing some serious weight man.

Yeah it's pretty heavy, but it's not even close to the weight of my ruck while I was in the service. When I hunt the farm in KY I have my binos, weapon, license, and some snacks. But the swamps I am hunting in FL are just a different level of sketchy and the extra gear sets my mind at ease. Might be the boy scout in me, but I can't get away from I'd rather have it out there and not need it then get out there and need it and not have it.

Good stuff in here guys, I've added a couple items to my pack from you're lists. One item I didn't consider was a small note pad to jot down different aspects from the hunt such as milkweed observations at different times of the hunt, obviously deer movement and also other hunters access/exit/setups.

I use my phone for GPS, notepad, & sd card viewer. This limits the need to carry 3 or 4 separate things.

I could do that for the notes but I don't get good enough reception in most spots to use GPS. Do you have a specific app you use for the GPS waypoints?

I do this as well, but sometimes bring the Garmin gps also if I'm going to be in seriously deep hollers where it's tricky to get a signal

For the good part of the season the most important thing I have in my pack is clothes. I freeze and without those I won't last an hour.

I use GPS kit app. I have no service in most place I hunt so I have to be sure to view the maps before losing service so map views are saved in cash memory.
