I don't know if it's this new moon or what. We haven't seen a deer in the morning or evening hunts in the past couple days. Some say we should be huntting midday.

Ok not a real answer...
Hire an outfitter, cause they have trophy bucks that walk under permanent stands at field edge every day.
These cool overcast days seem like they should be good hunting. I had one blow on me walking in yesterday but that was it.
Are you finding sign?

Re: Getting our asses kicked in IL
Been a little too warm for me to make it out the last couple days. I checked a couple cameras by my house and didnt have many deer on them. These cameras are in areas without that many oaks. Of course, driving back to the city tonight I saw a bunch of deer on lawns eating the acorns. I'm convinced deer are all over the acorns right now. Are you hunting ag or oaks? Buddy of mine went out this AM and has a doe and a fawn under him eating corn but that was about it. If it was me, I would find the white oaks, thats where I would think they would be.

I found good sign leading in/out of the swamps all summer to the small fields surrounding them until the acorns started dropping. There have been a lot of acorns dropping already this season and I am finding tons of sign leading to oaks - especially the oaks that are dropping on or close to the transition line. The deer have also seemed to stop hitting the apples for now where I hunt in Ontario at least.

I was on deer last week and they were hitting acorns.
