Maybe you will find him. But my % on finding high hit deer is 0.

Hope you can find him. My thought is if you hit him in the straps there should be blood, plenty of blood. Big muscles bleed. If you're under the spine high and back I would think you would catch some combination of kidneys, intenstines, etc.

I've found a few broadheads in bucks up high, near the spine. If you don't find him- there's prolly a good chance that you could get a shot at him later on. Keep hunting hard!

No Luck.. No blood No arrow. I started with climbing back into the tree to make sure I started the correct spot of the hit. I looked all over -I took trails - I went under stuff everything. I walked forward backward side/side. Looked on the trails, looked 3/5 feet off the trails for the arrow & blood nothing. I spent 1 1/4 last night & over 3 hours today. I would say my set was 15 ft off ground. The shot was 25 yards. I did notice at the shot area marsh humps in the marsh grass. Could this cause him to dip and go down like a spine hit? Still can't believe no arrow?? Don't get it. I also did a lot of scouting while looking. I cannot believe the buck sign I seen for this time of year. Rubs not just on small samplings but high rubs lots of them. Rubs on thick trees most waist high or more. I did jump a doe from her bed at 7 yards she was huge. One of the biggest doe I have seen. I went and stood in her bed just for learning more.

I hope to see this buck later this season. I will not be back in this area till end of Oct /Nov - I need to keep moving to other spots.

I use mechanical head with big cutting. Still no arrow? what would it have been lodged into if not the spine?

Deer are very tough when slightly off on the shot. Tenacious survivors!

You could have lodged in the vertebrae without actually damaging the spinal cord. Have heard of plenty of deer that were later butchered and found to have a broadhead scarred over and healed up.

I found an old vortex tip and about 3" of arrow in the back strap of the buck I harvested last year in Ohio. From just looking at the buck you couldn't tell it had an arrow in its back. Deer are very tough animals. Hopefully you get another chance at this buck. Good luck.

You can hit below the spine behind the diaphragm and still not hit enough vital organs to kill a deer, Ive done it. Hopefully he survives.

Man that sucks. The worst part is not knowing. Even when I help track I get so passionate about finding it at all costs. I helped my buddy track a single lung for 3 whole days we looked I was tagged out anyways. Looking by every crow squawking and just kept gps grid searching.

Just hung my stand in back yard & shot.. I'm on, even that day I shot some arrows on the ground before heading out & was feeling good. I really think he jumped my string, think he was on more alert than I thought. This weekend I going to try and borrow a camera & see if I can get a picture of him & find more out.

That old buck flu has made many a hunter feel sick.
You can fool some of the bucks, all of the time, and fool all of the bucks, some of the time, however you certainly can't fool all of the bucks, all of the time.

Shot a nice 9pt in 2013 guy had already shot it a few weeks earlier right were the back straps meet the hams during muzzleloader ruined a bunch of meat then butchering him hit something hard on the back strap found a broadhead lodged in the vertebra talk about tough freaking buck. But not tough enough for my .243! Thankfully it was a heart shot and he got back up walked 6 or 7 steps and fell over.
