Deer sense/smarts...

One of my favorite hunting spots is in the bottom of a shallow valley that empties into a narsh. The valley runs N/S and on this particular hunt the wind was running straight through from the south. Now typically, I sit all day to get an opportunity around dusk but on this South wind day (normal winds N/W) as the sun tracked across the sky, there was a point in the evening that the sun was directly in my eyes. I thought to myself how advantageous for a deer to come from the south right now. They could cover their rear with the wind and while they would have a perfect view ahead, any predator would be looking into the sun. Sure enough, within 20 minutes I put a nice doe down. Had my pick of 4. That South wind is rare, but when it blows, those deer come out early almost every time. Down right tactical if you ask me. Any other deer sense stories out there?
