And have busted my but to find some really great hunting areas. Thanks in large part to this forum! I saw the biggest buck of my 35 year bow hunting career on public land last year. I was 1 step from closing the deal!
Thanks to Dan and rest of you guys!

Re: What The Beast has Done for me
Wow didn't think this post would draw that much response. Maybe once my little guy is bigger we can go full beast mode together. LOL not many 4 year olds can say they are award winning turkey callers, or can say they caught a native brook trout on a fly they caught themselves. My biggest focus right now is building his foundation for the future. When we go out scouting and when we have in the past he picks things up quick. I mean he could ID coyote poop at 2.5 years old. Tracks, deer trails, things of that nature. I just want to give him the foundation I never had. Now my dad took me out, but it was just that taking me out, showing me a buck rub, that kind of thing. I am forever greatful for him for doing that, but my boy is going to just KNOW so much more than I did.
So for me at this point my deer hunting is mainly to put a deer or two in the freezer. My rule is if I don't have a doe in the freezer the first legal buck gets it. Especially now as I don't want to be up a tree leaving my boy at home on a Saturday.
Again just thankful a friend turned me on to this page. I have only ever shared this page and the Hill country bucks dvd with maybe 4 people or so. LOL nothing against you guys but I have enough completion in the woods I hunt. The one person is a close friend and he and I hunt the same section of gamelands. Kinda stinks to double check where he will be hunting, but we kind of share knowledge and such as we both don't get a pile of scouting time in.

Re: What The Beast has Done for me
Great post! I've often wondered how many mature bucks I'd have been able to take with the knowledge I now have. Glad my journey took me here and I've had the pleasure to meet so many beasts and share in this wealth of info
