Yes depending on where I sit in it. I think it will be a good spot. Deer often walk down one side or the other with the difficulty being guessing which side they were gonna take. In a tree it isn't possible to get both sides but sitting in the ditch you can.

If you can shoot to both sides, setting up in the corn on the downwind side could be an advantage. I'm not saying your pit idea is bad, I actually think it's a great idea but I just wanted to throw this out there.
I like that you can hide with the entire drainage upwind. Not possible if you're in the pit. Also from the pit you could potentially have a deer come from anywhere around you. Harder to keep track of them without getting busted.
Here's how I set up in standing corn:
Notice how I make an "X". I like to have two lanes to let them pass by while remaining out of site, then draw before they hit the 2nd lane.
If they come from the left, hide in position 1. They come from right hide in position 2. The observation trail isn't mandatory, but can help you see them coming from a distance. Once it starts getting to prime time/low light I usually stay in the red circle. Depends on the situation.

One more thing to add. If you do decide you like the corn method better, keep this in mind if the drainage has curvature to it. It's easier to see them coming this way.
Even if you dig the pit id try and set up on a bend so you don't have to turn as far to watch both directions.

I dug a foxhole in deep snow, just down the edge of a ditch once it was a killer setup I had 10 deer go by w/in 20 yards.

Always wanted to try a pit blind and may have to in the right instance.
We just talked about how the best spots don't have trees to get into

Yup. Be a good tactic without solid back cover or reduced foliage

Thanks Lockdown! Great insight! Unfortunately I don't have permission to hunt the corn...just the wooded drainage..weird property boundaries. I will get a pic up of it.
