Camera mounted on bucks head

Unread postby freezeAR » Wed Sep 14, 2016 7:32 am

I came across this site today. It is interesting even though the deer look to be in a high fence. It was really insightfull to see the behaviour of these bucks in different terrain and situations. Thought some of you might find it interesting as well.

The link worked for me. Try searching for Dr. Kroll (AKA Dr. Deer) on google.

Always thought this would be cool to do with a wild mature buck that lives in high hunting pressure. Would be awesome seeing what he sees and how he reacts to the pressure. Video taken during the rut when he is seeking does would be especially interesting. It would be an awesome learning experience. I would probably have a live feed 24 hours a day and never get any sleep.

IDK if they have done this before (iv never seen it), but a lot did go through my head watching it no doubt. What if you hunted all season just to get a shot to tranq one to do this? The Rubbing part was awesome!

Pretty neat. The deer cam vids are called 'Whitetail Journal' I started out watching a commercial.

I watched one...deer goes to sniff or drink a water hole and the initial image that was reflected caused me to lose interest.

The reflection was unnatural but so is a camerae mounted on a deers head and that is why it is so interesting. The things I thought where really informative was how the buck stuck to the edge, the buck feeding on aquatic vegetation, looking up frequently while drinking and how he used his nose to check beds and tracks.

It is definitely interesting, I would take whatever you observe as just that, at observation. It is more than likely a high fence buck with human interaction being the norm. It is cool though to see how they act and follow that edge.
