Re: 2016 buck line up...
KY JACK public buck
I shot him on Oct 13th coming from where I thought he might be bedding. didn't know for sure it was a northeast wind I found a west wind bed near there this spring. I put a cellular camera on a scrape near there. that morning my cam sent me a pic of him at 715. so I knew he was bedded close. so I looked at the topo map and found a point that was perfect for a northeast wind. But I'd never scouted that side of the ridge. Rookie mistake so I didn't know if it was good bedding or not. So I I scouted my way in looking for buck sign I scouted near a few other point. But found no buck sign.but when I got close to the best looking point I found a fresh rubline heading right at the point so I set up about 150 yards from the point. Got in stand at about 430.didnt see anything but squirrels till at about 620 or so the sun had just gone down.i spotted a deer above me walking my way didn't get a good look till he stepped into an opening at about 40 yards. Right away I knew it was a shooter. Thought I wasn't gonna get a shot but I saw an opening I ranged it quickly 28 yards. then drew he stepped into the opening I tried to stop him but he just kept walking to I yelled HEY pretty loud he heard that and stopped so I shot saw it hit him but didn't get a pass through I was worried I hit shoulder I waited a bit. climbed down went to where he stopped there was good blood right away he only went 60 yards.im quite sure I never would have got him without tactics I learned here and on the hill country DVD what a confidence boost!

Well it worked out for me guys. He was slightly quartering toward me more than I had thought and the arrow actually got in lung. I went in and could not find any blood this morning at all past the spot I marked. Off down to the bottom he was running toward I walked and looked everywhere then I slipped on up to the beds I was hunting for him out of I couldn't find anything. No sign of him, couldn't find where he might of laid through the night or nothing. Back to the last spot of blood I went to try and find something as I thought well he could of turned before dropping off here and I wouldn't of saw it. As I'm nearing the last spot of blood I look over in a direction I did not think he went and there he was off in a very nasty erosion ditch. He is my best buck to date bow or rifle. Was a little over 23 inches inside spread. To say I'm happy is definitely an understatement right now. How the season can turn around. Thanks for all the support guys. I'm definitely beat at the moment but this all makes it worth it!!
