Same as last year...Doing whatever I can to get my 13 yr old daughter her first deer...and with a bow no less. This will limit my time to hunt until the last week of Oct and the first week of Nov. Then after that...it's back to getting her a deer if still necessary.

It is all going to be determined on the final pieces of intel I gather over the next few weeks leading into season and what the wind direction is on October 1.

One thing for sure though. I can not wait for season to start. Its going to be a good one boys.

Not sure!!! Right now I need to hope I get out of this crappy valley I'm in health wise. If/when things get better. Depending on how confident I am with my shooting. I'll be sitting some observation stands trying to pin down a bucks movements. Mornings I hope to still/spot and stalk hunt some doe areas.

With all the time I've spent lying around in pain lately. I feel very under prepared!!!!!

26 days to go Wisconsin archers!!!

Good luck all!!!! Some good plans laid out it seems.

I've got 6 good bedding areas locally scouted out for the first week or so of the WI season. Seems to be a good acorn year down here, so going into final planning mode with some glassing and shining on those areas over the next few weeks. I know all were holding bucks after the gun season, so potential for a 2.5+ in all of them, a couple I know were already older.

Going to try and get a trip in to our land in central WI before the 10/1 IL opener. Looking to be a good acorn year up there again this year too, so depending how the first week or so goes, may be trying to get a doe in the freezer.

As of right now, looks like despite thinking I was done, may get another year at my best IL spot this year, but still ironing that out. If that doesn't happen, I'm going to branch out a little and try some public, but most of it is at least 60+ miles away and I have not put boots on the ground, so probably some stand on back scouting and sits.

Once the rut kicks in, I'll be spending some time in central WI if I still have a WI buck tag, and hitting some local public to scout. If I'm good to go at my closest IL spot, I'll be doing a couple of strategic all day rut sits during the week there. The last three years that has been good enough to get at least one of my tags filled.

WI gun season will depend on how many deer I have dead. If I'm still looking for meat, may buy a tag this year, as my oldest will be 6, and I think she may be interested in sitting this year, otherwise we will head up either way to keep my dad company. If I don't get a tag, he'll probably take her out for a sit or two.

Late season, hopefully enough meat in the freezer and buck tags filled. I like to small game hunt after WI gun season and scout to see what's still around.

I'm actually going to bow hunt this year. I haven't been out much in the last 4 years. I have 22 buck beds to hunt so I doubt I will get to give them all a try. Wind will decide which one I start with. I've been eyeing up a remote bedding spot for 3 years now and this spring it looked real good. I'd like to start there.

Interesting!?
A few years back I also looked into the NW (Oregon & Wash)
My buddy grew up in Eugene Oregon and hunted there when he was a kid.
We talked about getting out there for Mulies and/or Whites.

Care to elaborate on your thoughts?

My daughter and her hubby live in Spokane - there are some good whitetails in Eastern WA and mulies everywhere. I have access to a small farm and there is a lot of public land. Good hunting

Opening weekend I plan to hunt an area that gets a fair amount of pressure within the first week or two. There are a couple isolated bedding areas that the deer relocate to after a few days of hunter pressure. I plan to stack these two bedding areas the first two mornings and hunt the bedding areas in the evenings.

Elk mid September. Will try to shoot a doe or two with the recurve when I get back but historically after getting my elk fix its a few weeks before I feel like going hunting again. Its a chaser of flat beer after a shot of fireball.

When I start hunting for a buck probably depends on what I am seeing scouting and on cams. I found a couple of bucks I would love to get a crack at but will see if they are where I can kill one come season. Last year they were not. There are a few others I am still watching for.

Here in ND, I've been running a ton of cameras and glassing and have a good list of bucks to go after opening week.

I recently wrote this article, and this is how I pretty much am going after my early season bucks. Can't believe deer season is almost here already!

Still have no idea.

Track chair is still broken and in the shop. Have not been able to check my cams I set out in April, only have one natural blind made and need more etc, etc.

Needless to say I will be cramming a lot in a short amount of time maybe to close to the season opener but it is chance I have to take. I know where I want to be but have to make some natural blinds which will change things and hope I can get it done so the deer have maybe two months to get used to the changes and are not completely freaked out.

And if they are I am winging the season.
