Using a Light to Walk In...Opinions?
Do y'all use a light to walk into the stand in the mornings, and if not why? If so, any particular color like green, red, or white? I've been considering using a green light because everything points to spooking less deer due to they can't see the green wavelength.

When I hunt public land I always use a light on the way in and out. I have been using green as my primary light, but have debated only switching to red to keep from losing night vision.

Re: Using a Light to Walk In...Opinions?
When I hunt mornings I do use a light. However, I don't just walk thru the woods with the light shining as bright as possible. I normally get out of the truck and let my eyes adjust for a minute, go real slow and quiet and when I do turn my light on, I keep my hand over it so that I just have enough to see right in front of me. I think the key more than anything is your noise and scent tho. Plan a good route to where your going to hang your stand, be very quiet getting there and make sure to play the wind.

I can't remember where I read it.. Maybe best threads? But I believe Dan said not to use green because of other hunters thinking it's a deers eyes.

I don't mean to hi jack your thread BA-IV, but I was wondering if there has been a majority decision made on whether its Green or Red lights are best for deer not seeing it as well? When I google it its just back and forth articles on which one is best....

No worries man...I've yet to find the answer. Everyone has had luck AND negative effects with both. I'm still confused on which one I should be using.

I always use a light. I use a white light until I start getting close to my hunting area then I switch to a green light.
