Thanks guys. Man that was a fun hunt and I'm on cloud nine!!! BEAUTIFUL night to be out, and she puts the icing on the cake for my season. First archery doe kill since 2008, so it feels extra good. She caught me move a little at the tail end but I was already anchored. Easy 10 yard shot, glanced off the off side shoulder, MASSIVE blood trail 8-)

Shot her out of a natural blind in a 400-500 acre chunk of treeless cattails. To make it even better I passed a two year old 8 pointer about a half hour before she and 2 other does came in. Same 10 yd trail. My set up was a tricky one but it worked great. I took a bunch of pics that I'll post in one of the ground hunting threads when I get time.

Oh by the way Tyler had a great hunt too, but it didn't end how we hoped. He set up in some standing corn and passed a gimme shot on a spiker, was at full draw on a nice doe at 18 yards but opted out on a thread the needle shot (didn't want to have a wounded deer hours from home on a Sunday night) and also passed a huge shed buck! He said he was big bodied, gray in the face, was a little bow legged up front and had floppy ears. Had had several others just out of range.

Set up on the edge of a cedar swamp and flooded timber. I've got a couple of good looking trails to the south and east. Temps are comfy for January.

Sitting behind my house in the metro unit tonight. Have had a few shooters on camera but all very nocturnal activity with this warmth. Hoping for a nice doe but I'll take a buck too
