I haven't ever tried, but curious to know if it's worth it.

I did a metro hunt last year for the first time. I don't plan on doing it again. Just not my style and it's not convenient enough for me. If yer hunting land options or hunting time is very limited it wud b a good route to go tho. Our hunt period was a fri, sat, sun in October and a fri, sat, sun in November. Each wkend we had to meet at the hunt site on Thursday afternoon to do stand setups (can't setup in dark) then remove stands Sunday evening. We repeated this for both wkends.

Dingus, I did the same thing last year. I did not like going in to set up on Thursday and then not hunting until the next day. But, its the only way to hunt some of the larger metro wooded areas so I guess you have to take the good with the bad.

I applied again this year (I think the cutoff was last weekend to apply) but doubt i'll get selected in the lottery.

I get the reason for the many restrictions in place for these hunts and they are needed. Many are successful during these hunts and there r some massive bucks that have been taken.

I applied again this year. At first I applied for the areas closest to my house, but did some brief scouting amd quickly rearranged my list because of lack of deer sign in those particular parks. The hunt I did last year was pretty fun. Lots of rules, and it isn't comparable at all to a DIY or public land hunt, but it was enjoyable going in with an open mind. I was fortunate to have a really down to earth coordinator. I can see how having a coordinator with a bad attitude could suck the fun out of it.

One of my buddies had a coordinator last year with a real bad attitude and he said it was bad enough to not make the hunt even worth it. Like you said, definitely helps when you have a good coordinator.
